This system supports six (6) Single or Dual Rank Reg ECC RDIMMs or four (4) Quad Rank RDIMMs or ECC UDIMMs. Intel Xeon 3400 series processors use Registered memory. 4 pieces of 8GB DDR3-8500, 1066MHz, Quad Rank Reg ECC x8 DIMMs. Sockets: 4 Sockets for ECC UDIMMs, 6 Sockets for ECC RDIMM. How to Upgrade ECC UDIMMs: Virtually any configuration up to 16GB can be reached using Kingston's 1, 2 and 4GB ECC UDIMMs up to four modules. Mixing Registered ECC and Unbuffered ECC modules is not supported within this system. Single or Dual Rank RDIMMs: Virtually any configuration up to 24GB can be reached by using 1, 2 and 4GB SR or DR RDIMMs up to 6 modules. Due to chipset limitations, DDR3 Quad Rank memory will operate at 1066MHz in the first Dual Channel bank. Our DDR3-1333 modules automatically clock down to 1066MHz and 800MHz depending on which Intel Xeon model is installed and how many module Banks are populated.
